Here's a glimpse at just a handful of past retreats that have been held on the Oregon Coast and along the shore of Puget Sound. Enjoy!
Ali Edwards, Kelly Barton, Elise Blaha Cripe, Meredith Winn, and Vivienne McMaster are the teachers who have joined me at the various Your Story Retreats along the Northern Oregon Coast. Each of these retreats has enriched so many lives, and I'm so grateful to the women who have attended this incredible experience that looks at the ways we can tell our stories through our art, photography, writing and connection.
All photos but the watercolor image were taken by Vivienne McMaster
Kelly Rae Roberts and Andea Scher joined me for my very first retreat, Unearth, in Manzanita, Oregon. Three years later, Mindy Lacefield and Kelly Barton joined me for Unearth 2 at Frog Creek Lodge near my home in Washington. Both retreats wove together painting, photography, writing, and storytelling as we gathered in community and created friendships that are still going strong today. Unearthing our stories, our dreams, our voices will always be a retreat topic I hold close to my heart.
Hannah Marcotti, Kelly Barton, and Persephone Brown joined me for the Feast Retreat at Frog Creek Lodge. I wanted to create a retreat inspired by the line "Feast on your life." in Derek Walcott's poem "Love After Love." At this retreat we dove into looking at ourselves in this moment and how we can stay grounded in our lives through mindfulness and community. We painted and laughed and collaged and wrote poetry and did yoga and walked along the gorgeous shores of Puget Sound. And we feasted. This retreat helped me to really see how food prepared right from someone's heart can change a retreat experience for everyone (thank you Persephone for that lesson).
I've been so blessed to have so many other incredible teachers join me over the years for retreats. Past teachers have included Susan Wooldridge, who is not only one of my heroes but also a mentor and friend, Jen Lee, Mati Rose, Tracy Benjamin, Jenna McGuiggan, Andrea Jenkins, Kate Inglis, and Christen Olivarez. Seriously, how lucky am I? I'm looking forward to the next five years and all that they will bring!
